Meet Nick "Baba" Economos
Baba's Bakaliko is inspired by Nick Economos, known to family, friends, and the Atlanta Greek community simply as "Baba." Born in Athens, Greece in 1933, Baba immigrated to the United States and spent decades sharing Greek food, traditions and hospitality through the Atlanta Greek Festival.
For decades, Baba shared those traditions with thousands of families through the Atlanta Greek Festival, where he helped introduce generations of visitors to authentic Greek foods, spices, olive oil, cheeses, coffee, and the warm spirit of a traditional Greek village market. To Baba, food was never just about eating—it was about bringing people together around a table, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories.
The name "Baba's Bakaliko" honors both Baba and the traditional Greek bakaliko, the neighborhood market where families gathered to purchase everyday essentials and connect with their community.
Today, we continue that same mission by offering carefully selected Greek products inspired by the foods and flavors Baba loved most. From premium olive oil and honey to handcrafted seasonings and specialty foods, every product reflects the traditions that Baba spent a lifetime sharing. We invite you to experience a taste of Greece and become part of our family's story.
